Headteacher – Jemma Taylor
It is an honour to introduce myself as the Headteacher of Robin’s Way. I am originally from Northern Ireland and bring with me not just experience, but a deep personal understanding of the challenges some young people face. Having grown up with both Dyslexia and Dyscalculia, I know what it feels like to navigate education differently. That insight shapes my commitment to ensuring every pupil feels seen, understood, and supported.
I first trained as a Sports Therapist, but my journey into education began when I joined an SEMH school in Blackburn as a Learning Support Assistant. It was there that I trained to become a Science teacher and discovered a passion for working with young people who need school to be more than just lessons, it must be a place of safety, structure, and trust. I later moved to Wiltshire to continue working within the SEN sector, completing my NPQH in September 2024. I served as Deputy Head at an SEMH school in Shaftesbury for two years before taking up the role here at Robin’s Way.
My core belief is simple: every person in a school, child or adult, deserves to feel safe, happy, and like they belong. I aim to lead with compassion, clarity, and high expectations. Robin’s Way will be a place where individuals are nurtured and empowered, where challenges are met with kindness and consistency, and where every success, big or small, is celebrated.
Outside of school, I’m a proud parent to my young son, Ethan, and enjoy spending time with my family. You’ll also meet Quill, our friendly school dog, who plays a big part in daily life at Robin’s Way. In my downtime, I enjoy rugby, golf, and perhaps unexpectedly, crochet, which gives me a moment of calm and creativity.
Together with our dedicated staff, supportive families, and resilient pupils, I’m excited for the future we’re building, one where everyone can thrive.
Deputy Headteacher – John Murphy
My name is John Murphy, and I am delighted to have been appointed Deputy Head at Robin’s Way School.
I hold a BEd (Hons) degree and originally qualified as a Teacher of Physical Education, with additional studies in SEN and Psychology. Over the past twenty-four years, I have worked extensively in mainstream secondary education, holding a variety of leadership roles including Assistant Head (Staff Development), Head of Faculty, Director of Maths, Director of Key Stage 4, and Year Head for Years 8–11.
My move into Special Education was driven by a strong desire to support some of the most vulnerable young people in our society. Since then, I’ve worked in two Pupil Referral Units (PRUs) as Maths Lead, Behaviour Lead, and Deputy Head. Most recently, I’ve spent seven years in the private independent sector as a Maths Lead, and prior to joining Robin’s Way, I was Head of School at a Hampshire-based setting for two and a half years.
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my three daughters and grandchildren, walking Luna, my energetic three-year-old German Shepherd and taking on DIY projects. My most recent creation, a pergola which last time I looked, it was still standing! I’m also a passionate Crystal Palace supporter and regularly travel the country to follow the team. I enjoy watching non-league football just as much.
I’m approachable and always happy to answer any questions you may have. I’m genuinely excited by the opportunity to work alongside Jemma Taylor (Headteacher), our fantastic staff team, and most importantly our pupils. I am fully committed to ensuring Robin’s Way is not only a place of learning, but a place where every young person can grow in confidence, character, and joy.
